Set imovie to export the final film overnight. Got up this morning hoping to be able to watch the finished film, but it obviously didn’t work. Had an error screen saying imovie had crashed and asked it I wanted to send an error report. Hell no!
Had better luck this afternoon, was able to export the video, but for some reason I have 17 mins of black screen at the end of the film.
I’ve decided to call it quits and just accept that imovie will not do what I want it to. I’ll cut the end of the film using streamclip.
Will try to upload to the blog soon, but again i need to compress it to fit on the website.

imovie- get tae....
Seriously running out of patience with the computer today. Have finally managed to manipulate the video files to be of a usable size, still took the best part of an hour to import the compressed videos to imovie, but have finally been able to convert the videos to compress the time and frame rate to get the effect I am after for the video.
Have added still frames and transitions between the videos from days 1-4. Will set it running overnight, again, to export the final video from imovie. Fingers crossed it works this time.

Final Cut Pro- Don't think so mate
Having waited all night for Final Cut to download, had the usual problem with torrents, no serial number, un-mountable disc image and incredibly large application size, 43gbs!
Got round this with toast, serial crack and only installing the necessary programs from the studio package. Took a couple of hours to get it to install but got it working in the end.
This proved to be a pointless exercise and complete waste of time! Apart from the complicated interface, my computer simply doesn’t have the power to run the program whilst editing such large video files.
Read a few forums on trying to overcome the file sizes using imovie. Ended up downloading a free piece of software called streamclip, which cuts video and compresses them to a lower frame rate.
Again, need to leave to comp going over night to perform the transform, hopefully it will work tomorrow…

Film editing
Having finished gathering my results I have started trying to edit the video. This has proved to be an uphill struggle with software issues and file sizes.
I have been using imovie with little success. It uses a non destructive editing process, which means that every time I try to transform the video it makes a copy of the original. So with an original file size of 3gbs, after one transform this doubles to 6, then to 9, 12….. and with four videos it is eating my hard drive to point that it fills up every time I try to edit any part of the project.
I’ve torrented a copy of Final Cut Pro, gonna take over night to download so will try use it tomorrow…

Filming Day Four
Least cold day this week, early start almost did me in though. Today was a bit of a disaster. Charged the camera last night only to find it had no battery this morning. This was particularly annoying as today went extremely well.
In total 11 people asked me what was in the case, compared with one on the second day. Most of the people today said they remembered me form during the week.
A group of three women that got mars bars yesterday said they thought I was a ‘bible basher’ which I thought was great. Not only did they remember me but thought I was a fanatic! A DHL delivery driver who has given me some chat the last three days was very impressed and said the experiment was a ‘stroke of genius’.
All in all I think that the experiment has been successful, with people feeling more comfortable asking me what was in the case after they got mars bars the day before. On the other hand, I feel it is clear that people need to be shown the reward to take it. I was able to give out 91 mars bars yesterday and today only 11.

Filming Day Three
Definitely the coldest day this week, blisteringly cold. Was a bit of a rush getting organised this morning but made it to Borders for the same time as yesterday.
Was a little nervous at first, but the reaction from the public was extremely positive. Slow start with people taking mars bars, but picked up very quickly once people saw others taking one. Several people said they remembered me from the day before, but didn’t have time to ask what was in the case. A couple of delivery drivers remembered me from during the week and where very keen to take a mars bar!
In terms of results, I started with 100 mini mars bars and after twenty minutes was left with only 9, compared with the one mars bar given out yesterday.
At this stage of the experiment the main body of results have been collated. It seems clear that the public need to be shown what was in the case for them to take it. What will be interesting on the last day of the experiment is whether people will remember me and have the confidence to ask for another mars bar tomorrow when they are hidden in my case.

Filming Day Two
Another early start this morning. Colder than yesterday but filming for only twenty mins, so hands weren't to frozen. Started filming earlier than yesterday in an attempt to get more commuters to see the sign.
Today the sign said, ' Want to see what's in the case?'. Was expecting no one to ask, but got one punter asking what was inside. I'd like to think it was a pleasant surprise to get a mini mars bar, but he was disappointed it wasn't money!
On the whole happy with today. It was unexpected for someone to ask what was inside the case. Hoping to build on todays success tomorrow when I openly offer people chocolate.
