Film Conept

To test my theories using my presence in the city as a metaphor for a constant, I will familiarise the public with my intention by standing in the same place at the same time over a number of days.

Day one: On this day I will introduce myself to the public. To do this I will have a golf sale style board saying ‘Hello Glasgow’. This will familiarise the public with me, and hopefully make them aware of me in the street.

Day Two: Hopefully the public will remember me from the day before. This time I will stand in the same place with a flight case by my side. The case being a metaphor for the constantly changing events line up in Glasgow. The sign will read ‘Want to see what’s in the case?’ . I am assuming that no one will ask me to see what’s inside. If day two goes according to plan, then the outcome will be that no one will have asked me what’s in the case, symbolising the lack of knowledge the public has when it comes to things going on in their city.

Day Three: Assuming that no one asks to see what’s in the case on day two, I will show the public what is in the case. The sign will read ‘ Well in that case let me show you’. I will fill it with mars bars. I hope this is incentive enough for people to take a free bar of chocolate. This is to show that if the public are shown what is on offer they will take it. This is the most important day of the experiment. My experiment relies on people taking a free bar of chocolate.

Day Four: If everything goes to plan on day three and people have taken a bar of chocolate, I will repeat day two. I will show the same sign saying ‘Want to see what’s in the case?’. I am relying on people remembering me from the previous three days, know equipped with the knowledge that I have been there the previously and the day before I gave out free chocolate bar’s. The last day is when I will collate the results from the experiment.

There will be two possible outcomes. Firstly, people remember me giving out chocolate bars and ask for another, and secondly, they simply walk past. The first possible outcome shows that when there is a constant presence in the city people interact with it and remember what it was doing the previous day and ask for another chocolate bar. The metaphor being that if there was a venue that was in a constant place, and constantly showcasing events people would be interested. The second outcome shows that people will only take a chocolate bar when they can see it. The metaphor being that people have to be able to see the event taking place for them to interact with it.
